COSHH cabinets, cupboards & hazardous substance storage

Built for substances classified as hazardous to health such as chemicals, solvents, cleaning fluids and paints, our COSHH cabinets and cupboards are ideal for high-risk environments such as warehouses, laboratories, and industrial sites.

Yellow is the recognised UK colour coding for this type of storage, keeping hazardous contents identifiable across any site. Read our guide on COSHH compliance and what it means for your business for a full overview of your responsibility.

We also offer a wide selection of chemical handling products, including drum lifters, spill pallets, and storage units suitable for the transport and distribution of hazardous substances and goods.

The storage of hazardous materials is tightly regulated in the UK. The right cabinet depends on what is being stored: standard yellow COSHH cabinets suit harmful and irritant substances, while acids, larger volumes of flammable liquids, and gases each require a dedicated cabinet type. We stock a wide range in various sizes, covering every requirement, from compact stackable COSHH lockers for small sites to heavy-duty hazardous substance cabinets for industrial facilities.

The standard specification for UK workplaces. Our yellow COSHH cabinets are made from 0.9mm powder-coated steel with reinforced doors, adjustable galvanised shelves, no-snag handles, two or three-point locking, and a fully-welded liquid-tight sump base. Available in full-height (1830mm), standard (710mm), and mini formats to suit different site layouts. All supplied with interchangeable GHS hazard labels (harmful/irritant, corrosive, flammable, aquatic toxicity, health hazard, oxidising, explosive) to ensure compliance with HSE Guide HSG51 and DSEAR 2002.

Steel COSHH cabinets are not suitable for storing acids. Acids corrode steel over time, creating both a structural failure risk and a contamination hazard. Our acid cabinets are constructed from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene, which resists chemical attack from acids and corrosive substances.

Used in laboratories, chemical processing facilities, and educational institutions where acids and alkali are in daily use.

Standard COSHH cabinets are not fireproof. For sites storing larger volumes of flammable liquids where HSE Guide HSG51 or DSEAR 2002 requires enhanced fire protection, our fire-resistant chemical cabinet provides a more substantial barrier. Built to withstand fire exposure, with adjustable vents for controlled airflow and adjustable shelving. Suitable for offices, factories, and any environment where the fire risk assessment identifies a need for fire-resistant chemical storage.

Gas cylinders must be stored vertically and secured against tipping. Our gas cylinder cabinets are built from galvanised sheet steel with natural ventilation openings, padlock provision, and internal chaining points for securing cylinders in place. Designed for outdoor use in compliance with HSE guidance on compressed gas storage.

Our mobile hazardous substance cabinet travels on four castor wheels, allowing hazardous substances to be moved between workstations without decanting. A liquid-tight sump base and lockable door keep contents secure during movement. It’s best suited to manufacturing facilities and laboratory environments where chemicals are used across multiple locations.

Our janitorial COSHH cabinet combines full-height open storage for mops, brooms, and buckets with a lower shelved and sumped section for cleaning fluids and chemical bottles, all behind a single lockable door.

The practical choice for schools, leisure facilities, and facilities management contractors who need cleaning equipment and hazardous cleaning products stored together in a compliant unit.

Safe chemical storage goes beyond the cabinet itself. For secondary containment beneath drums and IBCs, browse our spill containment pallets and bunds. For chemical shelving with integrated sump trays, see our chemical storage shelving.

  • Before purchasing a COSHH cabinet, you must conduct a COSHH assessment, as it is a legal requirement to evaluate hazardous substances in the workplace to ensure their safe management. COSHH cabinets in the UK must be labelled with GHS hazard symbols and safety signs, have secure locking mechanisms, and undergo regular inspections for leaks or damage.

Chemicals should be stored in well-ventilated areas with easy access to exits and handwashing facilities. Different hazardous substances should be kept separate, especially if they are reactive, as storing incompatible chemicals together could increase fire risks. If you are unsure which COSHH cabinet suits your needs, please check product specifications or contact us for advice.

  • COSHH chemicals are hazardous to health, whereas general chemicals include both hazardous and non-hazardous substances. Storing COSHH chemicals requires stricter safety measures to prevent health risks and contamination. It is essential to use properly designed storage cabinets with ventilation and secure locks. Browse our range of COSHH cabinets to find the right one.

For flammable substances, we offer fireproof chemical storage cabinets with adjustable vents to ensure proper airflow. For general chemicals, our fireproof lockable cabinets provide secure storage and can be stacked on acid cabinets for a space-saving solution. We also offer acid cabinets that are perfect for schools and laboratories. Made of high-pressure laminate, they feature lockable doors and include ventilation systems for safe acid storage. Always check the product specifications to select the right cabinet for your needs.

  • Yes, all our COSHH cupboards and chemical cabinets are lockable and come with the option of key or electronic locks. They comply with safe chemical storage regulations, ensuring unauthorised access is prevented and hazardous substances are securely stored.

  • Our lockable gas cabinets are designed for secure outdoor storage of gas cylinders. Made from sheet steel, these cabinets feature natural ventilation openings to ensure proper airflow and prevent gas build-up.
