AJ Products is standing up for a healthy workplace
AJ Products UK in collaboration with Great British Business and The Telegraph have created this short film to promote a healthy workplace environment.
In a 2018 study, the World Health Organisation found that 37% of adults in high-income Western countries (including the UK and USA) do not do enough physical activity, with sedentary jobs and the use of motor transport cited as two of the primary causes ¹. Sedentary lifestyles have been held partly responsible for a rise in health conditions such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, cancer, heart disease and musculoskeletal problems. Moreover, it has been shown that regular exercise is not enough to combat the negative impact of long hours spent sitting down.
Given the long hours spent by many adults sitting down while at work, it is essential to combat this issue in the workplace in order to create a healthy work environment that encourages a more active lifestyle among employees. Well-designed, ergonomic office furniture helps to make workplaces safer and healthier.
Active working is far more than a trend, it is a response to the dangers of prolonged sitting. Businesses are becoming increasingly concerned with employee wellbeing and for good reason. It is not just employees that see the benefit. Musculoskeletal problems, such as back and neck pain, are one of the leading causes of absenteeism and accounted for just under a quarter (22.4%) of all sick days in 2016 ². This is at a significant cost to UK businesses. On the other hand, standing at work has been shown to improve performance, productivity and mood ³. Employees in a workplace optimised for their health and wellbeing are also more likely to stay with the company. A study by Fellowes showed that 34% of workers have considered moving jobs due to the negative impact of their work environment on their health ⁴.
AJ Products is a supplier of workplace furniture and interior solutions that focuses on ways to solve the problem of a sedentary workday.
