Give people choice over how they work

Creative workplaces often use activity-based layouts instead of fixed desks. This means employees are free to choose where they work depending on what they’re doing so that they can be at their most efficient and creative: a desk for focused tasks, a shared table for teamwork, or a relaxed area for informal discussions.

Having this choice helps people stay engaged and can make it easier to concentrate, collaborate and think creatively.  Thinking outside the box and using items in unexpected ways is encouraged in a creative workplace.

Keep furniture flexible and easy to move

In a creative office furniture should adapt to people, not the other way around. Lightweight desks, mobile storage and easy-to-move chairs make it simple to rearrange the space as needs change throughout the day.

Create open spaces that encourage collaboration

Open layouts can work well in creative environments, especially where collaboration and idea-sharing are part of everyday work. Fewer physical barriers make it easier to talk, share ideas and work together naturally.
