Get to know AJ Products’ in-house furniture designers
Did you know that many of the products we sell are designed in-house? At our headquarters in Halmstad, Sweden, designers Elin Basander André and Cecilia Stööp are behind some of our most popular pieces for offices, public spaces and industrial environments. Elin is the creative force behind the much-loved MODULUS office furniture range, while Cecilia designed our award-winning CREATE lockers, which earned a Red Dot Award back in 2015. Let’s take a closer look at the people shaping our design story.
Three quick questions for Elin & Cecilia
Cecilia Stööp, designer at AJ Products
1. What does good design mean to you?
Good design is all about balance. A product should be functional, it needs to make the user’s day easier, whether that’s by improving efficiency, comfort, or ergonomics. But it also needs to look good. For me, great design combines practicality with visual appeal.
2. What does your dream project look like?
To be honest, almost every time I start something new, it feels like a dream project. I tend to choose work that really speaks to me, so each new beginning, the chance to create something from scratch, is always exciting and inspiring.
3. What are you working on right now?
Right now, I’m designing leisure furniture for public spaces. Think tables, chairs, benches and sofas in a variety of shapes, materials and styles. It’s about finding the right mix of function, comfort and aesthetics for shared environments.

1. What's your favourite piece of furniture?
The chair - there’s something beautiful about its simplicity. It’s a perfect balance of form and function.
2. What’s the best thing about your job?
My colleagues, interesting collaborations, development opportunities and everything new I’m learning.
3. What is your best interior design tip?
Don’t be afraid to go bold and try something different, even if it challenges the ‘rules’ of interior design. That’s often how the most creative, interesting spaces come to life.
