How We Transformed Our Own Space Into a Working Showroom

How we transformed an empty ground floor into our Farnborough showroom

We talk a lot about what a well-designed workplace can do for a team and how the right layout, furniture and flow can shape how people feel and work every day. When our customer service team moved to the top floor of the building, it left the ground floor empty, a space that suddenly needed a new purpose.

We could have filled it with anything. Instead, we used it to build something that actually helps our customers make better decisions about their own workplaces - a fully functioning office furniture and warehouse showroom in Farnborough. Starting from scratch can be daunting, but it also gives you the rare opportunity to get everything right from the beginning.

What we wanted it to become (which took a while to figure out)

The brief we set ourselves was pretty simple. Build something that helps people make better decisions about their workplace.

Not a showroom in the traditional sense, with everything roped off and a slightly awkward atmosphere. A real space. One where you can sit at the desks, adjust the chairs, walk the warehouse aisle and properly sense whether something works for you before committing to it.

The layout is about how someone moves through a space, what they notice first, what makes them stop. Get the flow wrong and even the best products feel underwhelming.”

The front section of the ground floor became the office furniture showroom.

Height-adjustable desks, ergonomic chairs, meeting furniture, storage solution - all laid out to reflect how a real office functions rather than how a product catalogue looks.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. Offices aren't grids. They're layered, slightly unpredictable spaces with different zones for different kinds of work. We wanted the showroom to feel the same way. A space for focused work here, a collaborative area there, storage placed where people actually need it. It feels more natural. Because it is.

The warehouse showroom: where scale changes everything

Warehouse shelving and storage is one of those things that looks perfectly fine on a screen and completely different in person.

The measurements don’t change. But your understanding of them does.

Standing next to a racking system, seeing the height, the depth, the solidity of it, that’s when it stops being a specification and starts becoming something practical.

We fitted the warehouse showroom with industrial racking, shelving systems, workbenches and lockers. Laid out with enough room to walk through properly, with space to stand back and picture what it'd look like in your own warehouse or stockroom.
