The new office

The new office

A physical office space is ideal for anyone who needs to be present in the workplace in order to perform their work tasks to the best of their ability. The modern office should be designed around in-person meetings, collaboration and social spaces. It should also meet new needs, such as by offering flexible working hours. To help you navigate this way of working, we have put together a starter kit with an interview and articles as well as guides and templates that you can pick freely from and adapt to your new office.

From an HR perspective

We asked an HR expert about what it is like to work in a physical office today. See Else-Marie's answers and tips on some of the most important questions.

Four interior decorating tips to take with you
1.

Review the sound level and make sure that the office space has good acoustics. Digital meetings that take place at the participants' desks can cause higher noise levels and affect the ability to concentrate. With sound-absorbing desk screens, acoustic panels, textiles and plants, sound is suppressed and you create a more pleasant working environment.

2.

Social interaction is a driving force that brings many employees to the office - how you sit, work and socialise plays a role in the interior design and work set up. Pleasant workplaces have positive effects on productivity, efficiency and create a sense of belonging. Maybe a comfortable breakout area would suit you?

3.

Make sure that each employee has the space they need to be able to keep their distance in areas that many people use at the same time, for example in the lunchroom or around the coffee machine.

4.

The workplace is often seen as a meeting place and the need for smaller work and meeting rooms has increased. With smaller meetings and meeting rooms, collaboration between colleagues is easier and conversations with both internal and external parties can be carried out without disturbing other colleagues.
